CONTEMPLATIVE NEW MOON & THE END OF 2023

Greetings astrodarlings!
We have a New Moon in Sagittarius on Tuesday December 12th. It occurs at 20° 40 minutes of Sagittarius. This lunation is the final New Moon of the year 2023. This is a juicy, fiery experience as Sagittarius is an upbeat, optimistic place for the Sun and Moon to unite. Sagittarius is always enthusiastic about exploration, expansion, wisdom, knowledge and growth. This is also true for its ruling planet Jupiter, whose energy invites us to expand in the realms of self knowledge, faith and opening to infinite possibilities.
Jupiter is still in retrograde when this New Moon occurs on Tuesday 6:32 pm EST. And Mercury will be stationing and make its turn to retrograde 7.5 hours later. This indicates that our experience of the lunation may be about introspection. All the qualities I’ve mentioned are turned inward as we go deeper into our experience of self during this time. It invites us to reconnect and revisit (there’s those re’s again!) with our own sense of what inspires us, what we believe in, what we wish to grow as the New Year arrives. And taking a good look at 2023, what cycles we experienced, how we felt, how we grew and what we want to leave behind as we move into 2024.
What's interesting about Jupiter and Mercury is that Jupiter will station direct on Dec 30th/31st (depending on where you are in the world), then Mercury will move forward on January 1st, in Jupiter’s sign of Sagittarius. This means that these two planets are connected in this cycle of review and the decisions we wish to make as the New Year arrives. We’re being asked to move forward with optimism, expansion and enthusiasm. I believe that is a very positive shift forward as we begin 2024.
Also, the New Moon will challenge the planet Neptune. It indicates that we may begin this introspective period with some ambiguity. Neptune moves slowly and asks for our patience with ourselves as we recalibrate and process anything we unearth in our period of contemplation.
I know December is a frenzied month for many of us. If Mercury’s antics put a detour in your plans, take it as a blessing. Use the time for self care, self nurturing and some deep and exciting self exploration.
